I am sorry that we have not communicated much over the past week. Really, people who pack up and move out of town so suddenly and completely as we did are more or less obligated to provide some kind of communication.
But we have been extremely busy. Moving in is not easy work, as everyone knows, and moving into an entirely new area is harder still. We have been here for nearly a week and we have only just unpacked our clothes and stored them properly in our dressers and closets. Progress is being made, however, and we hope to be completely unpacked by the end of this week.
Also, our new residence is in something of a dead zone. Cell phone signal is extremely weak - often nonexistent - and the few phone calls I have made have been from the tops of hills. It is clear that we have no choice but to get some kind of land line phone service, or maybe VOIP. No more "cell phones only," in other words. And added to that, our carrier - T-Mobile (an otherwise stellar carrier) is not available in our area. It is not available in the entire "Triangle" (that's what residents call our area - Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham) either, so every call we make and receive (when we can find signal to do so) is an additional 50 cents a minute. We have been keeping our phones turned off for the most part. We will most likely have to say goodbye to our old phones and get new ones. We will keep everyone posted on our new numbers, of course.
In the meantime, we will be blogging about our new home. Please, add our RSS to your reader feeds! We will keep it as up-to-date as possible. There are so many things I want to write about, and this is the first opportunity I've really had to even stop and write this much.
But here are some things you should know: We miss all of you. We miss Orlando. We miss Florida.
Also, we love it here. We never want to leave. Everybody should live here. Check back often to find reasons why!
