We had our first night out at a real downtown Raleigh bar on Friday. It was actually really cool. The Raleigh Times Bar is in a building that is apparently almost a century old. The menu has a very generous vegetarian selection, including one of the best salads I have ever had (grilled asparagus and roasted tomato) and a top-notch beer menu (I had the Bell Wringer from Big Boss Brewing -I'm sure I'll write more about them later).
In all, we had a fantastic experience with downtown Raleigh at night. Obviously I work in downtown Raleigh, so it was not my first time seeing the city. And it is a pretty small downtown, about the size of Orlando's downtown area, although cleaner and more interesting. There are some beautiful old buildings with some fantastic architectural features - when we get a better camera that can take nighttime photos, we'll post some pictures.
There is more about this city that I want to say, but I'm going to wrap this up for now.
