The Christmas Eve Hike

As promised, here are photos of our Christmas Eve hike at the Eno River state park. This is our new favorite place for a hike - it's about 25-30 minutes from our home and has plenty of trails to explore. We have currently done only one, but we've done it twice. We are really looking forward to seeing this place in the spring or summer. The winter has turned everything muddy and gray, which is a nice enough effect, but I'm sure it's twice as nice when everything isn't dead.

If anyone has been keeping up with Lost, (which, if I know my audience, is exactly zero of you) there is an old house that looks like Jacob's cabin. I have no idea how old it actually is - living in Orlando, the home of false aging, has made me cynical toward structures that simply look old. Regardless of its age, however, this little house is ramshackle and terrifying. I can't think of any storm that would make this shelter appear welcome.
